COVID-Ready for 2021 Season

Maine Coast, 2019

I think we can all agree, 2020 has been a wild year. Facing a global pandemic at this scale for the first time since most of us can remember- left many of us on our heels, navigating how to conduct our lives and go about business in this new environment.

Teen Treks took the summer of 2020 off. We took all the recommended precautions, but we also took a deep breath, reflecting on all the ways this teen bike traveling company has greatly benefitted many lives over the years.

One of the great things about Teen Treks trips, is that unlike other teen summer camps, bike touring groups make for a safe and naturally socially distant environment. Teen Treks groups have always been kept small for a more intimate experience. Our daily activity of biking on the open roads naturally creates a spacial distance throughout the day. Also, the majority of time spent on a Teen Treks trip is outdoors, cycling from one town to the next, mostly sleeping in campgrounds.

Beyond the natural social space provided on a Teen Treks bike tour, our time of reflection also showed us how valuable personal health, exercising in fresh air, laughter and social connection are for our overall well-being. This is especially true for teens who need a steady diet of all of these practices throughout their developmental years.

When planning for 2021, we took our already socially distant and socially nourishing bike trips and added extra safety precautions to ensure a COVID-ready summer! Check out our Health and Safety page, for detailed guidelines on the ways Teen Treks will be prepared for trips during the summer of 2021.

You will find safety measures encouraged weeks before the trip, detailed precautions and procedures established throughout the scheduled bike tour, and advice for post-trip safety practices.

We look forward to yet another adventurous summer on a bicycle!
