Trek Description
Travel the shorelines of Connecticut and Rhode Island with us this summer and enjoy sandy beaches, winding back roads, and charming New England towns. This trip begins with a brief train ride from NYC to New Haven, and then you’ll follow the coast through scenic Guilford and Madison, and bike through the miles of sandy beaches at Hammonasset State Park.
Over the next few days, you’ll visit quaint Old Saybrook and New London, and get to know Mystic Seaport, a living history museum depicting coastal New England life in the 19th century. In Rhode Island, you’ll bike on up the coastline and catch a ferry to Block Island, featuring miles of pristine beaches and great bike paths. Another ferry will land you in Newport, where you’ll ride north for 2 days in historic Providence before catching a bus back to NYC.

Connecticut- Rhode Island is highly reccomended for a first-time trekker. There are many diverse stops and experiences along the route, one will simply feel like they are biking from one fun-filled activity to the next. Sort of like a beach vacation on a bike, this trip is a great start for trekker’s wanting an alternative summer camp experience and for those curious to see what it’s like to “live off their bicycle.”
Mystic Pizza and Seaport
Spending time in Mystic, CT is one of the highlights of this trip. Not only do you get to eat at the famous Mystic Pizza, but a visit to the Mystic Seaport Museum will make you never want to leave this quaint New England seaport town! The Mystic Seaport Museum is the largest maritime museum in the U.S., with 19 acres and 60 historic buildings, you can spend hours exploring the collection of sailing ships, boats and replica 19th century seaport village. You will get a full maritime experience here!
