Across America Trek Climbs

The day kicked off with a bang, as we set a record time for leaving a campsite. (2 hours) We conquered multiple steep hills, certainly the biggest we’ve seen this trip and the hardest some trekkers have ever done. A scenic route through mountain tunnels and fun switchbacks led us to a Walmart on the Columbia river, where we took lunch and purchased essential camp items like a new stove, sleeping pad, and others. Lunch was the usual wrap with meat, spinach and cheese, finished off with a Reese cup. After lunch had concluded, we climbed up back into the mountains where trekkers experienced breathtaking views of the Columbia river. After a flying descent through more switchbacks, we found ourselves in a cherry orchard. We thought we were cooked when the map routed us through a vineyard, but Ben flagged down a local who allowed us to stay on his property, and use the facilities including a hot tub and swimming hole!
