Today began with a hotel breakfast, everyone feasting on eggs, sausage, fruit, and coffee, not a much better way to start the day. After a late night watching spider man, we were a bit lazy in the morning and got a later start than usual, which was fine because we only had 27 miles to go. We blazed through the scorching sun without much issues besides one 600 foot climb which left everyone about a pound lighter from sweating. We met some fellow bikers at the top and they flexed on us taking about how they used to go from SF to LA in 4 days which we all agreed would be way less fun. We eventually arrived in Lampoc, and our first stop was Walmart, the first of the trip. In Walmart our cooking crew for the day – Jane, Zinnia, and Pheobe, shopped for lunch and dinner while the others stayed busy hackey sacking. We picnicked under the one tree we could find around the Walmart but it gave us enough shade to eat comfortably. After more sacking it was finally time for the World Cup game – England v Mexico, which we watched at an Applebees. We enjoyed some smoothies and happy hour appetizers which kept us occupied for a couple hours. After arriving at our intended campsite and immediately seeing someone mid bike theft we decided to just sleep in a hotel for the night. The cooking crew made some delicious grilled cheese, tomato soup, and kale salad which was enjoyed after relaxing in the hot tub for a while. Today showed us that we can still have a great time even when things don’t seem to go our way! We are looking forward to some getting on the road tomorrow and enjoying some time on the beach.
