Today was a delightful mix of events, some good and bad. We awoke at the Lochesa Lodge, fresh off showers, clean bathrooms, and fish n chips at the campsite restraunt. We actually left at 8, which provided us with a needed morale boost. We proceeded through sparsely populated wilderness, occasionally stopping at historical markers. The morning effort culminated at the Lolo Pass, a high-altitude road that Lewis and Clark apparently camped at. A visitor center located atop the pass provided us trekkers with clean bathrooms, hot chocolate, and a nice photo opportunity with the “Welcome to Montana Sign”. The afternoon was a great mix of downhill and flat, with lunch being at a hidden riverside spot. As we made our way into the greater Missoula area, we happened upon a biker named Carol. Megan struck up a conversation, and soon enough we had been invited to their house for dinner, laundry, and everything else we could need. Overall 8.5/10 day
