We started bright and early in Rushford and navigated the trails slowly because there were some trees in our path. Arriving in La Crosse we counted how many seconds (in Mississippis) it would take to cross the Mississippi River. After lunch we met steep downhills which we flew down and steep ascents that we pushed through. At the top of one hill, we met an Amish family who sold us peaches and cookies which were delicious! After some more challenging climbs we arrived at a farm where we camped with Peter’s friends and enjoyed a home cooked meal including mashed potatoes, corn grits, and a whole chicken! We then turned in at the loft of a barn for some rest.
