It was a rainy day, but we didn’t take it all too hard, because we understood what performance was needed. We made our miles even with many flats. During the heaviest rain we took shelter in a barn and exchanged bike tour stories with the owner. We also had our first zero gas station day because water was so plentiful and the weather was so cool. Luca’s return and speed was inspiring so there were still plenty of smiles and miles, especially taking beautiful single track over upstate rivers on our way to the finger lakes. We spotted a rainbow just before sliming over to camp. On landing we cooked a delicious chicken mozz pesto pasta and enjoyed drying off. We had cupcakes and cookies offered by a family gathering at the park before snoozing.
