Today we set off for Montreal! Trekkers said goodbye to their parents, who all helped so much to make this adventure possible. (Special shout-out to one parent who made the journey from home twice to recover a forgotten helmet!)
We got to know each other on a relaxing train ride from midtown to Tarrytown, and took frisbee breaks from learning the basics of bicycle touring at a riverside park.
Steeped in anticipation, we finally stepped onto the pedals and took off. A taste of the Hudson valley provided punchy climbs, rocky dirt paths, and beautiful views on smooth, fast descents.
Tonight we sit in our tents, rain pounding the thin roofs over our heads. Between intermittent buckets of rain, we listen to a myriad of distant fireworks, a prelude to the 4th of July. Trekkers are fast asleep after a long days journey.
Tomorrow will be our first full day of riding, keep clear skies and happy cyclists in your thoughts!!
